Refurbishment of 1750s house to form part of a new student residential complex.

A Grade II listed house, with a rare surviving timber bay window at street level (these were outlawed as a fire risk by the Bristol Building Act in 1788. Used as a music rehearsal space for years it is now going to become a self-contained student house.
My role has been to provide details and a specification complying with the listed building consent conditions, and suitable for construction.
Working with Corbel Conservation, we propose to upgrade the house thermally using breathable construction – lime render on wood fibre insulation where insulation has to be inside – while retaining historic features such as the flagstone floor and timber paneling in communal areas.
I also made some minor alterations to the layout in order to make the most of the spaces within the house. For AWW, 2019-2020.
